Adult Hearing Test
Adult Hearing
Hearing loss, while more prevalent as we get older, can occur at any age. At Advanced Hearing Solutions, we understand that suspecting you may have a hearing loss can be a scary and concerning time. We are here to help you, and with our expert clinicians you will be in safe hands. Having a comprehensive hearing loss test will help you understand not only the degree of hearing loss, but also the type of hearing loss and options to manage it.
Indications that you might have a hearing loss can include:
- Turning the TV up louder
- Having difficulty hearing on the phone
- Mis-hearing things – particularly in noisy environments
- Starting to withdraw socially.
The Hearing Assessment
If your ear canals are clear, the clinician will proceed to the main part of the hearing test. This involves you indicating every time you hear a beep through a set of headphones. This information will give an overview of how loud sounds need to be for you to hear them. Once the clinician has this information, they will check how clearly the sounds are coming through using speech testing. This test involves you repeating words back as you hear them through the headphones. The clinician will guide you through each step of the hearing assessment providing you with instructions and answering any questions you may have.
